Competent Person
Health & Safety Support

Practical, professional support from people who really understand your business

Every employer must ensure they have competent health and safety support to help them meet their legal duties. This means access to the right knowledge, skills, experience and professional judgement to understand workplace risks and manage them effectively.

Not every business needs a full-time health and safety professional, but every business needs reliable access to the right expertise. Safehands can act as your external Competent Person, providing experienced, practical support tailored to your organisation.

Our bespoke, in-person service allows us to understand how your business really operates. We consider your people, premises, working practices and day-to-day activities, so the support you receive is relevant, proportionate and practical.

What is Competent Person Service?

Tailored Business Support

We can provide the appropriate level of support for your organisation, specific to your industry.

We will tailor your Competent Person package to suit the size and structure of your organisation, the number of employees and sites you manage, the nature of your work and the level of support you require.

This gives you access to the right expertise without paying for services you’ll never use or that aren’t relevant to your business.

What's Included in our Packages?

Safehands offers practical support to help you manage your responsibilities with confidence.

We will agree your health and safety package with you from the outset, so you know what support is available and how it will be delivered.

We can review your existing systems, identify gaps, create risk assessments and safe systems of work, and help you identify and respond to changes within your business. We can provide advice whenever you need it.

Safehands can also support you with accident and incident investigations, workplace inspections, action plans and preparation for visits from enforcing authorities.

How to Getting Started

We begin by getting to know you and getting to know your business.

Our service starts with an initial consultation and workplace visit. This gives us the opportunity to understand your operations, review your current arrangements and identify any immediate priorities.

We will then recommend a package based on your organisation’s needs, risks and existing level of compliance.

You will receive a clear plan setting out the support to be provided, the frequency of visits and any actions required to strengthen your health and safety arrangements.

Local, Personal Service

Safehands is proud to provide a local, approachable service built around long-term working relationships.

Wherever possible, we visit clients in person rather than relying entirely on remote communication. Seeing your workplace and speaking directly with your team gives us a much clearer understanding of how your organisation operates.

Our human-led approach means the advice we provide is grounded in the realities of your business, rather than based on assumptions or generic templates.

Training a winning team

We can help you build confidence and competence across your organisation.

Our friendly team can deliver training at your own business premises or in the Safehands training suite, depending on what works best for your team.

We offer a range of health and safety courses and can also develop bespoke training around the specific risks, responsibilities and working practices within your organisation.

This helps your employees and business leaders understand what is expected of them and gives them the knowledge and confidence to work safely.
